Noise

There will be increased activity vehicle and boat on the island. These activities are already there with boats in the traverse and around Mapua.

The course will be surrounded by a belt of vegetation and the raised banks which will dampen noise generated within the course, and this with the majority of sports being quiet use as only small motorised boats are used (coach boats), will limit any noise disturbance from the main course area.

The waterskiing slalom boats are not noisy boats as their focus is on the skiing and not on parading the hardware. To allay any fears plans can be in place to control day to day noise levels. This can be arranged by having boats being launched at selected controlled points, and the local club generating a code of practice which will meet the requirements of the facility. The potential noise issue will be addressed in the feasibility study.

Noise from events can be controlled by the use of localised speakers rather than loud speaker systems and such systems will be investigated during design.
