Discussions with Iwi have raised concerns that archaeological evidence has shown there are historical sites and urupa (cemeteries) on Rabbit Island (Moturoa). Information supplied to date suggest that these are on the edges of the island however Iwi are proceeding with further investigations, and we are committed to work with Iwi to ensure that we do not dishonour or threaten these sites. Location of the course and adjacent natural areas can if possible enable any findings to be protected within the environs of the course. Details of present sites can be viewed here
