WHO ARE WE AND WHAT DO WE WANT TO DO?

The Tasman Aquatic Multi-sport Development Trust is a not for profit trust dedicated to the development of a much needed flat water multi-sport course and recreational area in the Nelson Tasman Region.

It is hoped that the course will provide an international quality flat water venue for sporting activity such as Rowing, Sprint Kayaking, Water Skiing, Endurance Swimming, Duathlon and Triathlon to name a few. All recognised sport will be welcome providing it does not excessively affect the ambience of the island.

It is intended that the course will hold sufficient water to be used at all times and yet is flushed by the tidal current at each high tide to avoid stagnation. It is also intended to convert approximately 60ha of surrounding pine forest back to indigenous vegetation making it an attractive recreational park accessible to the community when not being used for an official event.

As part of the 2009/2019 TDC Longterm Council Community Plan process we applied to have our project included, a copy of our submission can be downloaded here. We were successful in having the project recognised on the plan, but with no funding until a feasibility study is carried out. This is being scoped at the moment and more information will be provided as it comes to hand
